Piper’s Pit with HBK Shawn Michaels – 31.05.2007
Rowdy Piper: Welcome Shawn, have a seat.
Shawn: No thanks Rowdy, I already own a car.
Rowdy Piper: The question burning on everyone lips: What happened?
Shawn: First of all, it was never my intention to really leave the WWE, in fact, they’d have to surgically remove the WWE from me. I snapped. Pure and simple. Neidhart took it too far. He was goofin’around, not playing by the rules, screwing with the code of conduct in the WWE. That’s just not done. I got too much at stake in this business to let that be demolished by Jim Neidhart.
Rowdy Piper: Are you happy with the steps that WWE has taken so far?
Shawn: Yeah sure! I mean, how could you not be? It is the most sane thing to do. These are the only logical steps that could have been taken. The Hart foundation was a strong stable 10 years ago, bust most of them are dead now. It clearly is not what it once was, hence this situation.
Rowdy Piper: So what is the situation with you and Jim Neidhart at this point?
Shawn: You have to keep in mind that Jim’s wife passed away just last month. As I understand, WWE has given Jim all the time he needs to deal with her death. Clearly he is not done grieving yet and returned too soon. I on my part just overreacted a little. But I still find that one can not jeopardise this industry with the behaviour Mr. Neidhart displayed. I will have a talk with Raw’s GM (Venom, red.) to discuss how we go from here. I am confident that he’ll do the same with Jim.
Rowdy Piper: There were also rumors of DX returning, can you tell us something about that?
Shawn: No comment. No, wait! I do have a comment on that, otherwise people might consider those rumors true. The origin of these rumors lie in the fact that Hunter and I go way back, we’re close friends. He came to my lockerroom to talk about what happened. That’s just what friends do. So any stipulation of DX returning is nonsense. DX is history. It was fun while it lasted. That’s all I got to say about that.
Rowdy Piper: There were also rumors of you being drafted to Smackdown!, also not true?
Shawn: Haha, you’re a funny man, Todd. No, my place is here on Raw. I think we have someone backstage who likes to spread those rumors to create controversy. If I find out who that is, he or she has got another thing coming. Spreading such rumors creates too much tension among superstars, that’s not good. Not good for us, not good for the fans.
Rowdy Piper: Well, that’s about it. thank you for your time.
Shawn: You’re welcome. Our next talk will be when I got a title strapped around my waist. So see you next month, Row…dy! hahah!
